Some companies try pre-work stretching programs, while others skip it all together. Can we find support for such programs?
In 2018, a study was published in Sage Journals and Pubmed: Preventing Musculoskeletal Disorders in Factory Workers: Evaluating a New Eight Minute Stretching program. In this study, workers in a midwestern factory were assessed for work related musculoskeletal disorders before and after the stretching program was implemented. Also, sick days used were compared before and after. The stretches were done over 60 days and the stats were compared with the same 60 day period the previous year. The study found that the program was associated with far fewer work related musculoskeletal injuries and days off work!
Key point: Try implementing a stretching program!
Note: Consult with your doctor before making dietary or exercise changes.
