Working on a production line often involves repetitive movements, which can lead to muscle imbalances, stiffness, and overuse. To maintain body balance, you can incorporate exercises, movement strategies and short breaks (microbreaks) throughout your workday.
1. Opposite Movements
Since production work often involves repetitive motions in one direction, it’s essential to counteract these patterns by working the opposite muscles.
🔹 If you twist to one side repeatedly👉 Perform trunk rotations in the opposite direction
🔹 If you constantly reach forward👉 Do chest-opening stretches (e.g., doorway stretch)
🔹 If you stand in one place for long periods👉 Do calf raises, toe taps, and shift weight between legs to prevent stiffness.
2. Take Micro-Breaks & Move Every 30-60 Minutes
🔹 Arm swings, light body twists, and leg shakes to keep blood flowing.
🔹 Shoulder Shrugs – Helps relieve tension.
🔹 Hand & Wrist movements
3. Use the Opposite Side When Possible
🔹 Switch Hands – If safe and possible, alternate hands to balance muscle usage.🔹 Change Foot Position – If safe and possible, shift stance or alternate feet to reduce overuse of one side.
